Challenge / Opportunity

ETX Capital is a financial services company based in London providing financial derivatives trading such as contracts for difference (CFDs), financial spread betting and, corporate brokerage services.
We worked with ETX Capital in Aug 2019 with the specific challenge of redesigning the user registration and onboarding on their iOS app.

Over two 5-day UX Sprints (10 days in total) we mapped out the existing user registration, which was extensive - over 60 screens in total - because there were multiple branches due to compliance. We then created our first candidate in low-fidelity wireframes, which we then performed the first of three rounds of user testing. At the end of the engagement we provided every screen - for both happy and unhappy paths - for all branches of the user registration.

Approach

For this challenge, we recommended our 5-Day UX Sprint.
5-Day UX Sprint
Our UX Sprints are the fastest way to execute. No internal meetings. No sales calls. No long lunches. No helping Gary in accounts.
Pre-flight
We had a four hour meeting the week before the sprint to meet the team, discuss the project brief, walkthrough the current registration and onboarding process, confirm the deliverables and obtain any necessary assets before the first day of the sprint.
Daily calls
Every morning we had a 15 minute stand up with the ETX Capital team
Show & Tell
At the end of each day we sent an email with a link to a prototype plus a video screencast of us presenting our work to the ETX Capital team
Prototyping
Prototypes not presentations - we prefer to show prototypes instead of screens. This allowed the ETX Capital team to walk through user journeys instead of a set of static screens.
User testing
We performed three rounds of user testing which were all recorded. The video recordings, feedback and results all made available to the ETX Capital team, and written up into a user testing report.
