Shepper

Asset management & data collection

Asset management & data collection

Shepper performs on-demand tailored data collection & operational activities for businesses all over the world via our network of trusted local people. They provide an app-based data collection system that enables Shepherds - the name given by Shepper to their army of people around the world - earn money by collecting data for clients.

Challenge

In the first of many engagements with Shepper our first 5-day UX Sprint was to redesign the Shepherd registration and onboarding, as well as to redesign the global navigation and workflow to allow the introduction of future features and tools, plus redesigning the workflow for carrying out a task/job.

Impact

Over a 5-day UX Sprint, we completely reimagined the Shepherd journey from first touch to task completion. We delivered a restructured global navigation system that could scale with Shepper's product roadmap, a streamlined registration flow that reduced drop-off points, and an intuitive task workflow that made it clear for Shepherds to understand job requirements and submit data correctly. The new design system positioned Shepper for their next phase of growth while maintaining the community-focused feel that made their platform unique.

Approach

Pre-flight

We had a four hour meeting the week before the sprint to meet the team, discuss the project brief, walkthrough the current registration and onboarding process, confirm the deliverables and obtain any necessary assets before the first day of the sprint. We even signed up as a Shepherd and completed a number of tasks to get an idea of the workflow in the wild.

Daily calls

Every morning we had a 15 minute stand up with the Shepper product team

Show & Tell

At the end of each day we sent an email with a link to a prototype plus a video screencast of us presenting our work to the Shepper team

Prototyping

Prototypes not presentations - we prefer to show prototypes instead of screens. This allowed the Shepper team to walk through user journeys instead of a set of static screens.

Handover

We performed three rounds of user testing which were all recorded. The video recordings, feedback and results all made available to the Shepper team, and written up into a user testing report.
